Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the exits of two PSL icons. Now, another SA football icon has joined the list.
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns PSL icons, Kermit Erasmus, Bongani Zungu, Andile Jali and Sibusisio Vilakazi are all free agents.
Interestingly, all four of these men are PSL icons who have represented Bafana Bafana. Now, with the transfer window underway they face uncertain futures… here is the latest.
PIRATES AND SUNDOWNS PSL LEGENDS CLUBLESS
Kermit Erasmus is one of SIX Pirates player departures confirmed. There was so much hype round his arrival at the Bucs. However, now he finds himself without a club. He could bring experience to any prospective club but he is certainly facing the latter stages of his career.
Moreover, Zungu confirmed his departure from Sundowns. Meaning, the Brazilians will have a new top-earner next season. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder (31) may be past his prime but he still has many years in him. The former Kaizer Chiefs target is now available. However, they are unlikely to sign the ex-Sundowns midfielder due to their policy on older players.
Meanwhile, Bucs legend, Jali (34) still wants to continue playing. It was just last season that the Bucs and Sundowns legend was wanted by Chiefs and Pirates.
“We had a meeting, AJ has made the decision, he wants to continue playing,” agent Mike Makaab told iDiskiTimes.
Finally, Vilakazi (34) is the most recent PSL icon and veteran to leave his club.
“Yes, Vila is not going to stay with the club and he has been told about the decision already,” the source confirmed on Phakaaati.
ICONIC QUARTET FACE UNCERTAIN FUTURES, CHIEFS TO POUNCE?
All of these men were at one point top players in not only the PSL but South Africa as well.
Now, they face uncertainty having been released from their clubs during the latter stage of their careers. Interestingly. Chiefs have been linked with each of these players before. So, it will be interesting to see if they renew interest in any of these players now that they are available. However, as mentioned, it is unlikely given their ages. Regardless these four former Sundowns and Pirates stars are all PSL icons.
